For our eyes only

Eyes are an integral part of any living being irrespective of whether they are tiny insects or huge animals. These are gifts of God and their purpose is to permit the owners to appreciate the world around them. Usually eyes come in pairs but there are exceptions. One is of Cyclops the Greek monsters who had a single eye in the middle of their foreheads. The other exception is of Lord Shiva, who has three eyes – the third is on his forehead. Shiva Third Eye Story. Then there are all other living beings. Their eyes are the first organs of the body that become active on birth and remain active till they breathe their last.

Then are the pirates who sported the eye patch. Like Long John Silver of the famous novel Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. Another is Captain Jack Sparrow of the Pirates of the Caribbean. Both are fictional characters and sported eye patches. They gave a new dimension to their roles. In the olden days, the monocle was common – it was nothing but a glass for use on one eye and held in place by the muscles of the eye.
